Unpopular Opinion; Quarantine is Fun
Updated: Jun 3, 2020
Scrolling through social media it seems like everyone cannot wait for the day until COVID-19 is past us, and we can finally get back to our sense of normalcy. As I read through each post it makes me wonder; is there something wrong with me? Why am I the only one who seems to be enjoying quarantine?
I have discovered that there is nothing wrong for liking quarantine. It is in fact just the way I choose to think about. Never in my life have I had absolutely nothing to do. In high school I was always in a hurry, trying to juggle the life of a typical teenage girl, participating in clubs, striving for good grades, and going to dance (which at the time was my passion in life). Most nights I wouldn't even be able to enjoy dinner with my family.
Of course the abruptness of quickly having to pack up my things from my college dorm room and move back home was not easy. The adjustment of not living with my friends or having the freedom that I was used to was a hard change to grasp. However, after I few weeks of trying to fully understand what it means to be in quarantine I came to the realization that ever since I've been home I have had dinner with my family every night. I have branched out to learn new things. Heck! I'm sitting here at my kitchen counter right now writing my first blog (which I never thought I would ever do by the way) and what is even cooler is that I am actually having fun writing it. My point being is that there will never be another point in my lifetime where I will be able to have hour long dinners, learn that I like blogging, or sleep until noon. I have made a promise to myself to make quarantine fun, to make quarantine a learning experience, and most importantly, make quarantine a time to focus on self reflection.

XO,
Kelley
